New space time

We are on the move from Hackney to Tower Hamlets with a new space, new neighbours and a new business idea. Hone is our new home and we will be opening our doors soon. Covid has impacted a everyone in a lot of ways and we are no different. The studio space started as a need identified from running projects to a space offering services for designers and makers.

Since July we have been working with the Bromley-By-Bow centre on a submission for the Investec Beyound Business competition. We made it to the finalshort list of 8 from enteries numbering 54 and are now competing to be in the final 6 businesses to be given support and a grant to set up. This will mean that the dye studio becomes a business to business focused enterprise with a focus on supplying costume, set and fashion designers with natural dyed fabrics, trimmings and products.

We are also going to be setting up an apprentice scheme and access to studio space for young people and emerging designers. Our long term vision is for natural dyes to become a part of the norm and for everyone to gain knowledge and experience. There will also be some exciting links with the London Urban Textiles Commons for 2022 with lots of ways to get involved and learn more about how textiles can become sustainable.
